Why I Hate January. . .

{I tend to bake when I'm stressed or avoiding issues. . .}

January and I were friends once upon a time, long, long ago, before I had bills to pay or was responsible for buying gifts. Today January and I are not friends, mostly for monetary reasons.

First, December is a long month and it messes up my billing cycle. This is just annoying and mainly a mental thing for me. However, Dr. J's work place changed their payroll and so now our pay day dates are different. *palm to forehead*

Second, even though we managed to shop and gift conservatively this year it's still more than our usual spending and it still hurts. Especially since I've heard nada about any of the (literally) hundreds of jobs I've applied for in the last 6 months or more. Top that off with a few yearly fee's that we pay and January becomes the most painful month of the year.

Third, January means another fiscal year has ended and it's time to start gathering and submitting tax documents.

All of the above and more, are reasons why I would like to burrow into a hole on January first and not come out until February.

Do you share my January anxieties? Or am I just overreacting?

  1. Car insurance is due....boo, plus tuition and all that fun stuff :) But I can't really say that January is any more stressful financially than the other 11 months of the year. Hoping it passes quickly for ya!
